When lions hunt, don’t they usually seek & catch the weaker, slower ones in the herd?
(1 Peter 5:8)
Beware of who and where you seek to receive comfort. It may seem right at the moment, but it could be the enemy hunting you for his prey.
(Lord knows I’ve fallen for his sneaky tricks too often…haven’t you? And I’m not talking about just getting mixed up with the wrong people…I’m also talking about getting mixed up in situations that seem right, but are so wrong that only God Himself can fix it.)
Anyway, he wouldn’t be a very good hunter if he came right out and told you what he really is, would he? Don’t fall for it!
You will only be able to “out run” the enemy if you are strong. How do you become strong?
“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”
You get strong by studying His Word…getting to know God. When you know God, you will know what’s truly right…then, even when you are weak, HE is strong for you! (2 Corinthians 12:10)
I could go on & on….you probably didn’t read this far down anyway.
But here’s a little more just in case you are…sometimes we find comfort in food, drink, talking about problems nonstop, shopping, or many other forms of self comfort…consider this:
Philippians 3:19 says “Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.”
Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”
Remember that Jesus left us after His resurrection so that the Holy Spirit –the Comforter—could come?
THAT’S where we are supposed to turn!! Nothing of this world will ever satisfy our heart desires. There’s a God shaped hole in us all and only Jesus can fill it!
I hope this helps someone in some way. It surely has helped me to remember that in order to recognize the “hunter” I must study God’s word, put my hand over my mouth, watch out for my stomach and call on Jesus instead!
Love ya bunches, Percy
