My life is but a weaving between the Lord and me!

To Hear God’s Voice

My children were watching a movie from the red box. It was an action type thriller. I noticed that the movie had a very good plot, but it was over run with profanity. I started asking myself why? What is the purpose of cursing? I remember the days prior to becoming a born again Christian and hearing someone cursing never troubled me. Now I can not tolerate hearing such words. I began to ponder why. I asked “why do the writers and directors insert such words into their text?” When I start complaining about the contents of what they are watching. I could hear the silence but see the expressions. “Here she goes again!”  I prayed hard for an answer and the answer is simple it interferes with our prayer life and prevents us from having a relationship with God. Would you as a Christian pray to God with a foul mouth? It is Satan way of demoralizing your relationship with God. When you listen to foul words, or watch immoral acts, we decrease our ability to have a close relationship with God.

Romans 8:5-8  5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Satan’s plan is to uproot our relationship with God. To have a relationship with God, we need to be spiritually minded. In order to be spiritually minded, we need to seek God through praying and hearing His word.  By praying and hearing His word we stay connected to God spiritually and can hear His voice. To hear God’s voice is such a magnificent feeling and it secures our peace and joy.

  1. Communication is key with the believer and God, we are his house [temple] that He dwells in…we can not serve two masters, we either love one and hate the other…so, Satan will seduce a generation through the senses. If our eyes are off from seeking God and instead surfing the channels, Satan can place a stronghold. If our ears are listening to bad movies, music and false teachings, Satan can place a stronghold. Satan is very subtle, sneaky and basically a slithering slim ball.

At times, Jesus withdrew away from even the presence of evil. When in the wilderness, Jesus confronted Satan one on one with the Word of Truth. Understanding that at that time in the bible- Jesus [being the living word] reminded Satan of God’s precepts when he rebuked him. He has answered the lies of media over 2000 years ago. The good news is we can answer it by following the example Jesus set for us in the word.

Excellent message, Gwen. Thank you for sharing your insight…my prayer is that parents, leaders and mentors will make the stand and encourage entertainment that will edify, nurture and celebrate Christ-filled living! Bless you. ~Zoey

Excellent points! I love your statement of “It is Satan way of demoralizing your relationship with God. John 4:24

    King James Version (KJV)

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
