Taking back my JOY in Christ

Hello! For those of you who  might have been wondering where I ran off to..well, I have been doing a lot of soul searching and heart cleaning.

A few weeks ago, I was reading a book that dealt with temperaments, specifically the 4 basic temperaments women are supposed to possess. While I began to read this, I was totally caught up in it, and completely identified with one temperament in particular, melancholy. I saw in myself traits comparable to this type, and basically quit reading. I was stuck. It was as if someone has taken my insides out and displayed my ugly side to everyone. I couldn’t even finish the darn book. Good thing, as i skimmed through it later, and identified with a few other types as well.

As I was talking with a friend on the phone, I came to the realization that I was not “just” melancholy, nor sanguine, or even choleric; I was even MORE than a mixture of all. Like a pie, sliced into pieces, I was a little of this, with a dollop of that, but mostly..mostly..I was a beloved child of GOD!! While my insecure side wants to put ugly labels on myself, HE calls me His daughter.

The Lord intervened, and showed me that for every ugly name I call myself, he has called me something beautiful.

So, the moral of my story is: Don’t get caught up in what you read, even if it is from great Christian writers; the Bible will bring you back to the TRUTH, and the truth is, He loves us. He loves us with all our imperfections. He does not expect the perfection we so often do.

Have JOY in that fact! I am! HE has brought me back my HOPE and JOY!!

  1. Nicolette: God loves a heart that seeks him. He loves YOU! May I share my devotion today with you…my prayer is that it will speak to your heart as it did mine. Bless you sweet sister. ~Zoey

    My devotion: John 7:16-18

Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own, it comes from him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth: there is nothing false about him.

    My prayer:

Father God, my heart is set on you. Pour out your spirit upon us and fill us with your unfailing love. Cause our eyes to see the truth of your word and let it delight our hearts to see the applications are for our good. Cause us to hear your Spirit as it whispers in our soul and lift us to your highest mark for Victory! We will give YOU the GLORY and HONOR and PRAISE forever and forever. Halleluiah…Hosanna…we love you Jesus, we love you Lord! Thank you Holy Spirit, that leads in all truth! Amen.

    1. Zoey: Thank you my sister for your thoughtful words. Love the verse, so appropriate for my topic. Thank you for the prayer, I felt the warmth of His lovingkindness all day. Love Him! Love YOU!
