Lord of the Harvest

Isaiah 25:6

“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples,

A banquet of aged wine- the best of meats and the finest of wines.”

Israel is often spoken of in the Old Testament as a vine.  One of the names of Jesus is the True Vine.  Who is the harvest?  Those grafted into Jesus.  His people are the branches of the True Vine.

The life of Christ was poured out upon the cross, so that none should perish. We come as sinners to his redeeming power…salvation.  We take the promises in the word of God, apply them daily to restore, renew and rebuild our mind, spirit and body.

He will take the tired, weary, fruitless branches joining them together, pouring into people His love, forgiveness and healing.  Infused with Him we bear the same fruit.  These will be the attributes of the Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Gentleness, Kindness, Goodness, Self-Control, Patience, Faithfulness, Peace and Joy.     What grace!  He is the Lord of the Harvest.

  1. AMEN! The Lord keeps telling me the harvest is ripe. It’s time to reap and to help Him. What we have sown in tears, we are now reaping in joy (Ps. 126). It is coming! The harvest is coming. Hallelujah! May we stay ever ready at His side and listening to and moving in response to His voice.

    Love in Jesus,
