Proverbs 31 Challenge ~ Chapter 28

Proverbs 28

Amplified Bible (AMP)

28 The wicked flee when no man pursues them, but the [uncompromisingly] righteous are bold as a lion.

When a land transgresses, it has many rulers, but when the ruler is a man of discernment, understanding, and knowledge, its stability will long continue.

A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food [plundering them of their last morsels].

Those who forsake the law [of God and man] praise the wicked, but those who keep the law [of God and man] contend with them.

Evil men do not understand justice, but they who crave and seek the Lord understand it fully.

Better is the poor man who walks in his integrity than he who willfully goes in double and wrong ways, though he is rich.

Whoever keeps the law [of God and man] is a wise son, but he who is a companion of gluttons and the carousing, self-indulgent, and extravagant shames his father.

He who by charging excessive interest and who by unjust efforts to get gain increases his material possession gathers it for him [to spend] who is kind and generous to the poor.

He who turns away his ear from hearing the law [of God and man], even his prayer is an abomination, hateful and revolting [to God].

10 Whoever leads the upright astray into an evil way, he will himself fall into his own pit, but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance.

11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes and conceit, but the poor man who has understanding will find him out.

12 When the [uncompromisingly] righteous triumph, there is great glory and celebration; but when the wicked rise [to power], men hide themselves.

13 He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes his sins will obtain mercy.

14 Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is the man who reverently and worshipfully fears [the Lord] at all times [regardless of circumstances], but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

15 Like a roaring lion or a ravenous and charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

16 A ruler who lacks understanding is [like a wicked one] a great oppressor, but he who hates covetousness and unjust gain shall prolong his days.

17 If a man willfully sheds the blood of a person [and keeps the guilt of murder upon his conscience], he is fleeing to the pit (the grave) and hastening to his own destruction; let no man stop him!

18 He who walks uprightly shall be safe, but he who willfully goes in double and wrong ways shall fall in one of them.

19 He who cultivates his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless people and pursuits will have poverty enough.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich [at any cost] shall not go unpunished.

21 To have respect of persons and to show partiality is not good, neither is it good that man should transgress for a piece of bread.

22 He who has an evil and covetous eye hastens to be rich and knows not that want will come upon him.

23 He who rebukes a man shall afterward find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.

24 Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, This is no sin—he is in the same class as [an open, lawless robber and] a destroyer.

25 He who is of a greedy spirit stirs up strife, but he who puts his trust in the Lord shall be enriched and blessed.

26 He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident of his own mind and heart is a [self-confident] fool, but he who walks in skillful and godly Wisdom shall be delivered.

27 He who gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes [from their want] will have many a curse.

28 When the wicked rise [to power], men hide themselves; but when they perish, the [consistently] righteous increase and become many.

  1. Amen! My prayer is for those to be bold with their witness, relentless against the attacks of the devil, mighty in the word of the Lord and quick to run the race, without looking back at the lifestyle they left behind. But to press on, shine bright your light and a lift the burdens off the weary, Renew, Refresh and Rebuild!! Blessings ~Zoey

  2. Chapter 28

Guilt and unresolved conflicts’ will not go away by ignoring the problem. A clear conscience is better than hiding behind a mask of unbelief and stubborn pride. [Vs:1-2]

Be a person of godly character and lead with solid principles, for success requires wise leadership. In business be balanced and honest in your bookkeeping. Remember the poor with the same respect you give a business partner. The Lord cares for them, through the giving of charity. The Lord will bless a clear conscience. [Vs:3-19]

It is better to work a honest day’s wage than to follow the “get rich quick” schemes. Ask yourself the question: “Are you giving your time and energy to make a greedy, stingy person wealthy??”
Here is a key: Use wisdom to find a good career or job and trust God to provide it for you. People are willing to follow good leadership but even a fool will rebel against a tyrant! [Vs:20-28]

Reflect the character of the Lord!~Zoey

    1. I am always amazed at the power of ignoring. Many people in my life seem to thing that it some great super power but really I find it quite the opposite. I find a clear conscience very empowering. I love the Godly character that Christ is developing in me. I also really enjoy the characters He puts in my path. 🙂 Especially, you my Godly character filled friend. ❤

  3. Day 28:Proverbs 28

There is always so much in each chapter. Today I cannot pick which is ministering to me most. So I shall share both with you.

1 The wicked flee when no man pursues them, BUT the [uncompromisingly] righteous are bold as a lion.

The wicked flee because they believe that others treat them as they would treat others. So they fear always. They suspect and live in a constant state of anxiety. They have fear thoughts, they speak fearful words, they feed on fear by listening to every fear filled conversation. They believe every evil thought that comes into their head. Consequently their mode of operation is to run away and hide. No courage! No strength! No honor!

BUT GOD! I love how God steps in.

God, who has given us Jesus to be our righteousness, has made available His confidence and His boldness. Because the blood of Jesus puts us in right standing with God, we can have no fear. When there is no fear, when we see Jesus there is perfect and constant peace to boldly walk, boldly talk.

Lions are powerful. They know what they want and they go for it with all their strength, skill and ability. They don’t hesitate. That is how His righteousness in us, propels us to act. He has given us His power, and His strength, to receive, to take what He has prepared and destined for us!

13 He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes his sins will obtain mercy.

Transgression are places I know God’s law and I still chose to sin. I allow my desires and my emotions to override what I know is right and honoring to God. I allow my aggression, my power to do and to think to travel past and around what I know God expects and commands. What happens is I justify disobeying and bending God’s word to suit my desire. This is how I cover my transgression. I cover it because I know it is wrong. I will feel ashamed and guilty. I hide from what I know is right because it interferes with what I want. This is not God’s plan or method.

I find it very interesting that I am not to cover my own transgression but I am to cover others. If I cover or hide my own sins, it is to keep them from coming to the light. I defend myself. I put myself in the seat of God in my heart. Why would I need God’s idea of right and wrong to guide me, when I have my own power to choose and decide? This covering then because a source of my own strength and idea of good. Yes, it then is a form of idol worship. Whereas, if I cover others transgressions, I take what God has given to me and I let it flow to others. His love meets me where I am at and lifts me to where he is. That is how I am to cover others transgressions. I am to see them where they are at and encourage them and lift them to where God has called them. I can only do this if God’s love is fully operating in my own heart. It can only fully operate to the degree I walking in His mercy.

    Proverbs 17:9 (KJV)

9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

The Love of God in me, causes me to confess and forsake my own sins, bringing my heart to wholeness and into the light. That light helps me to see the transgressions of others without judging them according to those transgressions but judging them out of a healed and whole heart filled with His Grace, His truth and His love. That in turn allows me to be a source of His life for them.

His plan is for me to prosper….in this scripture that prosperity is obtaining God’s mercy. I consider the highest point in my life, the most success I can achieve is to walk in the mercy that God has given to me. To live it out His complete version of mercy, and not just my lame idea of it in my every moment. His mercy is something that I find the older I get the more depth of it I can receive if I apply His commands.

God’s recipe for me to receive that mercy, is not to be smart, work hard, work even harder, and always try to measure up. No! His recipe is simply this: Confess my sins, Forsake my sins. To obtain God’s mercy, which I must say, He has made readily available, I must apply these two steps. It seems so simple and yet it challenges me every time. See, I often think it is my job to earn God’s mercy. I must do these huge things, big extravagant changes, and works. NO! Just confess and forsake my sins.

Praise God! I love the emphatic tone of this scripture, if I do confess and forsake my sins, I WILL OBTAIN MERCY. There is no hesitation, no prejudice, just straightforward promise. I love how God operates!

******Thank you, Lord for Jesus! For the right standing that His blood provides for us. I pray that as we grow in His righteousness we would become more and more bold and courageous. I also pray that we would be men and women who allow our transgressions to be brought to the light, so we may confess and forsake them. Let us be people who do obtain your mercy!
