My heart today prays for those who are persecuted for righteousness sake… around the world. In Sudan, I read of entire townships wiped out because of religious persecution, killing an American pastor and his son. The recent abduction of girls in Nigeria…”240 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram militants from their Chibok secondary school on April 14 have escaped. Facing forced conversion and sale as child brides into sexual and domestic servitude, those abducted, including 8 abducted in a follow-up raid of Warabe Village, continue to suffer at the hands of their Islamist abductors.” (courtesy of persecution.org)
We do have a enemy that lurks in the background- watching through hood veil the persecution inflicted upon the believers worldwide. I do not want to bring any alarm or in any way scare you, dear readers. But we must pray for those who find themselves in peril because it is our calling to pray for those who are persecuted for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Why? Because it is a power, that when join together with other believers, the gates of Hell can not prevail against.
In my devotion today, this is the scripture passage I read, may I share it with you:
16 But to the wicked, God says: What right have you to recite My statutes or take My covenant or pledge on your lips,
17 Seeing that you hate instruction and correction and cast My words behind you [discarding them]?
18 When you see a thief, you associate with him, and you have taken part with adulterers.
19 You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.
21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was once entirely like you. But [now] I will reprove you and put [the charge] in order before your eyes.
22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
You see, Lord, where the tears fall. You catch them in the palm of your hand. You press upon the heart and bring hope to hang on for one more dawn. The downcast is given reprieve in the mist of peril because your hand is mighty to protect and shelter those who call on your name. We lift up our petition to you Lord. We pray for freedom. We pray for rescue. We ask for your divine intervention on behalf of each child, teen, adult and community, Lord. We pray for the families, friends and loved ones of those who are waiting in the throes of a crisis, that they will find your peace in their hearts and trust in you without doubt and disillusionment. It is a chain reaction of evil but we are praying for this chain to be broken and the release of these young children to be returned back to the community, for the missionaries to be released, for the mother to be freed to her child and for the many, many others, Lord. ~Amen and Praise you, Lord~
