The Israelites were tired of slavery, and they prayed to God to help them. God sent Moses into Egypt to save them and bring them out to the promise land. As they were heading out to the promise land they continuously complained. “Moses brought us out here to die”, “you should have left us back in slavery.”
Exodus 14:11-13 (NIV)
11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
But the Israelites didn’t listen they continued to complain. Eventually, God became weary and left them in the wilderness for forty years. That generation never made it to the promise land. They lost going into the land of milk and honey that God had promised their father Abraham. They died in the wilderness.
Numbers 14:7-9 (NIV)
7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”
We should not look back to our past, we need to look forward to our future. Do not be afraid because our God is with us. No matter what trust in the Lord and seek His kingdom. Know that we are with a new covenant with Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace.
Hebrews 8:6-13 (NIV)
6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said“The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord, because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
All we have to do is rest and trust in God. Know that He never forgets His promises. He cannot lie. Receive God’s love, For He loves us so much that he sacrificed His only son.
John 3:16 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
As we receive God’s promises, we are to share God’s glory. As God blesses us we are to bless others. We as Christians are to bring God’s word to all of the world. We are to share His comfort with those that we cross path with. We are to share His joy with those who are brokenhearted. Thank You Lord for your blessings, Please Lord continue to guide me and direct my path. Lord continue to be a blessing to me, so I can be a blessing to others. I ask this Lord in Jesus name. Amen.
