Teach us to pray

praying hands 2

When I first got saved, I did not know what else to do. I gave my life to the Lord but I needed someone to guide me. The church that I was going to ( yes, I was going to church but was not saved, and I got saved in my bathroom at home not at church), didn’t seem to notice the difference in me. When God is ready for you one cannot hide. I remember calling up different key people at church and asking questions and they all seem bothered. These were old time saved people. The ones that was born into the church so they say!!! lol. Never got connected with anyone, I guess I was rambling because I knew not. So I picked up the Bible for myself and began to read. From page 1 and  I tell you it read like a novel. The Bible is my favorite book of all times forever. I read and reached the Lord’s prayer in Matthew and smile, but when I reached,

Luke 11:1 (NIV)

11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

I thoughtfully stopped and this became my pattern for prayer:

Our Father: Prayer should be about us not me. We are part of the body of Christ and God is every ones father.

Who art in heaven: Father we know that you sit above us, able to see all. Every good and perfect gift comes down from heaven.

Hallowed be thy name: All praises to you my father and as I enter into prayer Lord with the mindset that You will do good in my life.

Thy Kingdom come: Lord we have been given dominion on earth and we are humbly asking you to come into us.

Thy Will be done. Lord let your Will be done according to Your Word,

On earth as it is in heaven. Lord we know we can only do with Your strength. If you Lord the King is in us then your kingdom is in us. Lord continue to bless us and keep everything that is not of you Lord out of us.

Give us this day our daily bread: Lord we have faith that you will provide for us everyday. We are not to worry about tomorrow, we only can eat enough for today, tomorrow God will provide again.

Matthew 6:26 (NIV)

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

And forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Matthew 18-24-25 (NKJV)

24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

28 “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil:

Matthew 4:1-10 (NIV)

4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

He will command his angels concerning you,

and they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.

God does not tempt us. The tempter is the devil. The devil is our enemy and he will take good desires and tempt us with it

For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever! Amen
