My life is but a weaving between the Lord and me!

Proverbs 3

Amplified Bible (AMP)

3 My son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;

For length of days and years of a life [worth living] and tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death], these shall they add to you.

Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart.

So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.

It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.

Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income;

10 So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine.

11 My son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord [His correction by punishment or by subjection to suffering or trial]; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof,

12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences],

14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.

15 Skillful and godly [a]Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.

16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.

17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

19 The Lord by skillful and godly Wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding He has established the heavens.

20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies distill the dew.

21 My son, let them not escape from your sight, but keep sound and godly Wisdom and discretion,

22 And they will be life to your inner self, and a gracious ornament to your neck (your outer self).

23 Then you will walk in your way securely and in confident trust, and you shall not dash your foot or stumble.

24 When you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet.

25 Be not afraid of sudden terror and panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin of the wicked when it comes [for you will be guiltless],

26 For the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught [in a trap or some hidden danger].

27 Withhold not good from those to whom it is due [its rightful owners], when it is in the power of your hand to do it.

28 Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it—when you have it with you.

29 Do not contrive or dig up or cultivate evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly and confidently beside you.

30 Contend not with a man for no reason—when he has done you no wrong.

31 Do not resentfully envy and be jealous of an unscrupulous, grasping man, and choose none of his ways.

32 For the perverse are an abomination [extremely disgusting and detestable] to the Lord; but His confidential communion and secret counsel are with the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him).

33 The curse of the Lord is in and on the house of the wicked, but He declares blessed (joyful and favored with blessings) the home of the just and consistently righteous.

34 Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favor to the low [in rank], the humble, and the afflicted.

35 The wise shall inherit glory (all honor and good) but shame is the highest rank conferred on [self-confident] fools.

    Proverbs 3:

I really liked reading and meditating on this chapter. It has so many practical application for our everyday life. We are instructed to have faith in the Lord, not to rely on our own understanding, nor “be wise with our own eyes.” We have to remember that only the LORD knows the truth about what is happening in the “big picture” of the world, and in our case, our own personal lives.

I feel the LORD is warning me to let go of my earthly pleasures and treasures that I hold on to. The things I count on in this earth will soon erode away, so it is time to place all trust and confidence in the LORD. I also hear a message that especially touches my life in the following passage:

“Withhold no good from those to whom it is due [its rightful owners}, when it is in your hand to do it. (28) Do to say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it-when you have it with you.”

What this passage says to me is give recognition of good when it is due-do not wait to tell someone you treasure them, do it now. Do not wait to help someone when it is in my power to help now. Good intentions can only carry me so far. My father used to say “Actions speak louder than words,” and the older I get, the more I find this advice useful. It doesn’t matter how much I “intend” to help, it is my proactive actions that tell the real story. A great example of this is my wanting to read the Bible more. I was telling my (much loved) friends how I wanted to set aside time everyday to work on this Bible Study, and post in my blog. Set aside the time, like a predetermined time each day, as if it were a “job.” Well, telling them this is all well and good, but DOING it..that is what counts. Good intentions have never picked up a pen (typed a word), paid a bill, or thanked anyone. Only real actions can do these things, and much more.

What a wonderful truth to bring forth and focus my heart on. “Do not wait to help someone when it is in my power to help now.” I love this and I love you. I am so grateful to have you doing this study with us. ❤

    Day 3:Proverbs 3

    Wisdom’s Ways

Proverbs 3:17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Godly wisdom always has a course of action. His wisdom always has a direction and a destination. God’s wisdom was designed for us to act in and on from a place of our heart being delighted to walk in it. I know that I am walking in His wisdom when I am acting in His peace. That word peace in the Hebrew is defined as: completeness, good health, soundness, and welfare. This is the path that the Lord has set for us. Our God has given us a place to travel this life in, it is called His wisdom. As we let Him help us make our hearts agreeable to His will, our lives become more enjoyable. Even through the hard things, we can enjoy our God who is our Peace and Who continually heals our hearts and brings us to completeness.

This is what God’s wisdom is so I know I am on the right highway. I must look for these signs:

    James 3:17

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

17 But the wisdom from above is first of all PURE (undefiled); then it is PEACE-LOVING, COURTEOUS (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] YIELD to reason, full of COMPASSION and GOOD FRUITS; it is WHOLEHEARTED and STRAIGHT-FORWARDED, IMPARTIAL and UNFEIGNED (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).

This is the place that God designed for us to journey on as we live out our lives. Our paths should be marked with these qualities. Think on it…….it is so very different from the world’s perspective of wisdom.

One more thing, He gives us His wisdom, FREELY! He wants us to have it. All it requires is that we ask, believe, and act on it.

    James 1:5

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of [a]the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

***Thank you, Lord for giving me your wisdom. Help me to live my life walking on your wisdom path. Let my life be filled with all the qualities of your wisdom.

  3. This is one of the most diversified chapters in Proverbs. It really gives a look at the individual in the community. How we are to treat our neighbor. That it is better to be greeted with hospitality, especially with those who live close. It is always a good business practice to rightfully bring honor to people, as a leader. It teaches that when a believer keeps love and faithfulness in their hearts, you will gain health and prosperity. I will lend my own personal observation: it is a key principle of networking, the core of positive living in the community.

Sometimes my head can spin at all the “many” steps to wealth, financial freedom, spiritual enlightenment, insights to your inner physic and so on…that line our book store shelves. Here the “how to” is capsulated in this chapter. God doesn’t mess around. In all our ways we are to acknowledge HIM.[v:6]

I find it amazing on how it shows two keys: Love and Faithfulness. We need to give love to one another and to let His love remain our first consideration before our own choice. I don’t really know anyone who doesn’t want to receive love, do you? Oh, people get blustery about reasons, excuses or missteps in relationships but as human we were created to love and have faithfulness. For you will win favor and a good name in the sight of man and God[v:4]

Wisdom is trust in God and to honor him with your tithes.[v:9] We will be tempted to fulfill God’s visions for us, rather than putting our trust in God and being a good steward with our money. (ouch)
Wisdom is used to lay a good foundation to build upon. Understanding contributes to growth. Knowledge formulates equity. By wisdom God formed earth’s foundation.[v19-20] I think I will always need God, how about you?

I enjoy gardening and my favorite past time is canning. I look forward to watching the beauty of the first blossoms and the fruit as it grows on the trees. Wisdom is called a tree of life.[v:18] God wants us to know how and when to use the resources available to us. He wants us to preserve sound judgment and discernment.[v:21] He says it will be life to you! Respect wisdom for it will save your life from the ruin that overtakes of the wicked and sudden disaster.

Because of wisdom, God warns us to not withhold good from those who deserve it. Be ready to give what you have to those that ask or need. Because of understanding, God warns us to not plot harm against a person who is trustfully near you. This is your family, friends, neighbor, co-worker…your community. It is not exclusive to just the believer. There is no pass for agnostics, atheist or any unbeliever, as well. For Jesus overcame the world. [Jn.16:23] The Lord tells us not to accuse another for no reason, when that person has done no harm. Or to envy a violent person, the Lord detests a perverse man. It is not so much the individual as it is the presence of evil the Lord sees in the spirit of the person. Jesus rebuked Peter, who was his disciple. He could see the influence of the devil upon the mind of Peter.

God will take confidence in those that are upright, He will give grace to the humble. The wise will inherit honor. [v:35]

    My Prayer:

    Father God,
You show us the blueprint for successful living in the Proverbs. We have only to read in your word and apply it in our life. The possibilities are within our capabilities in YOU! May we remember to always hold close to our hearts Love and Faithfulness in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

    God Bless~Zoey
