My ALL in ALL 3 Feb 2014

praying hands 2“You will search for the LORD your God,

and you will find Him when you seek Him

with all your heart and all  your soul.”

Deuteronomy 4 v 29

(Read Deut 4 v 25-31)

Such a small word: ALL, but what a huge meaning. When speaking, thinking, imagining, hearing, touching, giving, taking, living, it represents the entirety of the subject, the object, the vision. The whole thing. The whole enchilda, as we say in New Mexico. Nothing ommitted. Nothing too small or large to be included. ALL.

The word is included in the bible over 1300 times. That fact alone is huge.

So, how does it apply to the Lord?

Obey Him with ALL your heart.

Served Him with ALL your heart and soul.

Trust Him with ALL your heart.

Think about Him in ALL your ways.

Believe with ALL your heart.

When I give an issue that I can’t solve, I give it to the Lord. I have to give it all to Him. I cannot ask for help, and then, when I have an idea, go and snach it back from Him. I gave it all to Him. It is now His.

When I gave my heart to the Lord, I gave it all to Him. What that looks like in my life is the Jesus is my Lord and Savior.. He is my GOD. I can’t have any other Gods..or IDOL’s, besides Him. So..that means when I care more about my bank account and decide to work instead of going to church, I am making money my Idol, or a god.

In the Ten Commandments, it is addressed this way:

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20 v 3

See you ALL tomorrow,

Hebrews 6:18-19

18 This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us].

19 [Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot [a]break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope] that reaches [b]farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil,

According to this scripture we have MIGHTY INDWELLING STRENGTH and STRONG ENCOURAGEMENT to hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before us.  My strength feels far from mighty. Yet as I read this, my heart swells. God has appointed a hope for me and set it before me. I have a definite hope filled aim.  I know from scripture that Jesus, because of the hope of the joy set before Him, endure the cross. His soul was anchored in the hope of the joy that God would accept His sacrifice and would redeem all mankind. It was not a generic hope or a vague one. It was this focused with intensity hope that motivated His every second and enabled Him to obey unto death.

Jesus knew God to be the absolute truth. This anchored His human soul. It must be what anchors our souls too. God will never prove false in my life or yours! There are so many emotions, wounds and shifts in perception in our lives.  We may feel the currents yanking us in every direction, yet His Holy Spirit holds us securely anchored to Him in hope. It is our sure expectation that God is the absolute truth. We may not be able to enter into heaven at this moment, but we are anchored in Christ, not adrift or lost. No matter how our souls, our emotions, our minds or wills rage, our beings are securely held with full expectation of being face to face with our beloved Lord. He is our absolutely certain Hope!

I pray for us, that we would have our souls anchored only in Your hope. Help us to look away from all that diminishes or distracts us from your Hope. Help us to recognize all the places that our souls are anchored in the wrong things and to repent and re-anchor in You. Help us to have the sure expectation that You are who You say You are and that You will do what You say You will. You have given us mighty indwelling strength to hold onto You and the hope that You have appointed for us. Help us to seize Your Hope. Let’s us walk in the revelation of the Hope of Christ.

Psalm 39:7

And so, Lord, my only hope is in you.

Vantage Point

From what vantage point are you living your life?

Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

Sometimes, the view from our souls become focused on mistakes, wrongs, disappointments, and injustices. It becomes tainted with harsh judgement and pride.  When house hunting the view is a big selling point. No one wants to buy a house with a view of the dump, the freeway, the wall of the house next to it. The good news is, no matter how bad the view is from our souls, God has made provision for us. We are His temples, we belong to Him. He knew the development of our souls and landscapes of our lives. That is why He has provided a focus for us, His mercy.

Today,  I encourage you to ask the Lord to reveal what the view of your soul is and if need be, to shift your vantage point, to adjust what needs to be adjusted so that you can see Him. How would it changes our lives if we began living with our hearts focused on the God’s mercy? His mercy not only for others, but for ourselves. The view from our souls is supposed to be stunning, because His mercy is so powerful!

May you just receive all that you need from our Lord as you read this. May you feel His presence coming into your cracks and losses of your soul. May you begin to see yourself with His eyes. No matter how ugly the view has been, His mercy makes you beautiful!

HOPE reflects belief.

HOPE believes in the better, in the higher, in the possibilities.

HOPE rejects cynicism. People with a higher level of hope believe that though events may not work out they will not be defeated.

HOPE  is the dream of a soul awake.
